John Youhanes Magok, South Sudanese young leader, working for the African Union Commission (AUC) as Mining Policy Officer under AU Youth Volunteer Program at the Department of Trade and Industry. Youhanes is a YALI Regional Leadership Center of East Africa, alumni of cohort 38 of Business and Entrepreneurship Track. He is a holder of Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and Masters in Environment and Climate Change Management. Youhanes is a youth advocate and a champion of AU Agenda 2063 through African Youth Union Commission (AYUC) and speaker at the World Youth Forum 2019 on African youth employability and the role of Civil Societies in achieving peace in Africa through PCRD. He is an awardee of H.E. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of Arab Republic of Egypt and Chairperson of the African Union for 2019, as “African Young Promising Leader”, within the framework of the African Presidential Leadership Program (APLP) batch one. He is the author of the Book “The Forgotten Youth of a Nation: A Guide for Young Hustlers” and a freelance researcher who contributed to Youth at Heart project with Restless Development and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tackling Resilience to COVID19, Education and the Future of Work, and Youth Voices in Society with special focused on the MENA, Sahel, and East and Horn of Africa regions.
