February 27, 2022 (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia): The Nile Youth Development Actions (NYDA) in collaboration with Uzalendo African Initiative and Evoke Research Primary Cooperative are organizing a virtual webinar on the Regional Consultation on Domestication of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) under the theme “Making the AfCFTA Works for Youth and Women in SADC Region”. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a regional bloc that aims to achieve development, peace and security, and economic growth in all its sixteen Member States.
The objective of the webinar is to identify opportunities under the AfCFTA framework and further reinforce the advocacy for gender-sensitive and youth-centric implementation that will ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the continent. The speakers and panelists will explore modalities for engaging in a strategic partnership to facilitate youth and women access to the AfCFTA markets.
The discussions will further examine how best the AfCFTA Secretariat can coordinate the involvement of youth in the development of a Protocol that addresses issues of women and young people in the implementation of the continental free trade agreement.
This is one of the series of online webinars that are organized by the NYDA and other youth-led entities across the continent focusing on the AfCFTA policy aspects and the knowledge gap that hinders proper participation and inclusion of youth and women in the implementation of the agreement in the African Regional Economic Communities.
The virtual event will take place on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 03:00 – 05:00 East African Time/GMT+3. The registration link is Meeting Registration – Zoom
