December 17, 2020 (Mombasa, Kenya): The Executive Director of the Nile Youth Development Actions (NYDA) Mr. Youhanes Magok, participated in three- days regional workshop in strategic communications for developing alternative narratives and counter massages against the spread of violent extremist ideologies. The workshop brought together representatives from civil society and youth networks from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda.
The goal of the workshop is to equip participants with strategic communication skills to develop and disseminate alternative narratives and counter messages against violent extremist ideologies. As much as possible, the focus will be on strategies for developing gender-sensitives messaging on P/CVE.
Complementing the work of IGAD, ICEPCVE collaborates with partners to strengthen the capacity of communities at risk of radicalization to violent extremism. One way of achieving this objective is to develop and implement training programmes and materials to contribute to the development of messages against the spread of violent extremist ideologies.
